Parents, educators, and kids share how one brave girl’s journey sparked big conversations at home.

I bought this for my classroom, and my students were hooked. They kept asking to hear it again. What I loved most is how it sparked conversations about languages and where our families come from. Some kids shared words from their own homes. It turned into a whole lesson I didn’t plan. That’s a good book.

I come from a mixed family myself. Polish mom, Indian dad. Reading this with my daughter felt like seeing our life on a page for the first time. She asked if Kaya was real. I said, she’s like you. That moment was everything. Thank you for writing this.
